The beginnings of the back cabin at last

Got a phone call yesterday, today’s the day for the start of creation because it’s not raining… (Yet)

James came to fit the frame today, after a major battle with wind problems. Particular ref to the kind of hurricane similar to that which moves in when we go for a pumpout. So this was how it went, and by gum did he do a good job despite the elements.

Starting on the front bit…

Still on the front bit…

Dave lending a helpful consultation that was of no consequence whatsoever…

Ah, now that’s the ticket…

And a back view too…

Creating the template for the top, not easy amidst a hurricane, it nearly took off at one point. I even had visions of them both parascending across the marina in search of dry land…

And there you have it, the roof template sorted…

And the side template…

It was a sad situation when we had to fold all the new frame back and reconstruct the old back cabin again, till the real deal will be created and fitted in 3 weeks time. We were already aware of the wait, but it was still a painful experience.

It was quite amusing watching the gongoozlers watching us. We could tell by their faces they were thinking this was the "real deal" and how the colour didn’t quite match the rest of the boat.

To be honest I’d have been happy with just the one half of thin template material stuck up there till completion. Compared to what we´ve put back together on a temporary basis Well there´s no comparison...

It looked good even as a template there for a while, roll on three weeks time when it’s marine grade blue…
