Slapstick Comedy

Time to wipe the dust off the little plastic card again. Dust? It hasn’t had chance to settle.

Last night we went to get a new carpet for the bedroom plus underlay. It all worked out quite nicely because they had a sale on at “Carpet Right” and we even got the Right Carpet too.

But we’ve been under pressure today to get everything else sorted because the furniture’s coming tomorrow. Well it’s supposed to be, whether it’ll actually turn up or not is another matter.

When I said we were gutting the bedroom I meant it, blimey where’s the bed gone…?

010
Ah, there it is, looks like after sleeping on top of a chest of drawers last night, we’re out on the pontoon tonight. That’s if we can put it back together again, nah, sod it, more tip fodder…

002
The saloon, looking left…

004
And looking right, as you can see the amount of debris has doubled since Sunday…

006
Well it’s not finished by any means, my contribution:

Oiled walls, including oiled clothes and hair…
017
Still missing any “wood trim” and some other bits but looking better…

018
Just two walls on show here – hey I’m proud of this…

019

Part of my painted design feature on one side of the doors at the front, will show you the full effect when it’s all finished…

020
LHS wall here STILL needs oiling, thing is when you’re doing 12 x 10ft walls it totally deadens your arms after three coats.

Oh and this is the new funky silver plated carpet, we decided to just do half the room because we have to be different…

014
Guessed what it is yet? No it’s not really the carpet and it will cover the whole floor of course. But Dave’s just gone out for fish ‘n chips so we might as well be silly about it.
Close up…

015

Ok, so it’s called “Thermawrap” and is made up of two layers of thick foil with bubble wrap type stuff in between, (well perhaps it’s a bit more sophisticated than that). Anyway it’s good for “keeping your feet warm." So Dave’s sticking it to the floor with PVA glue as a sealant, before we even start with underlay,, good idea on a boat eh…?

In effect it’s creating a big sandwich, but what with that, underlay and a carpet we might need a pair of ladders to get in there.

Does like it says on the tin…

025

Ah well I must get back to work in there, that’s if I can remember where I was up to. So we shall await patiently and see what turns up tomorrow, part of the furniture or none? Oh me of little faith…
