Not such a good day for it, but carrying on regardless

I know I’m an optimist, we both are about all things really. But after what started off as a cloudy yet warm and steamy day yesterday. The rain clouds soon came flooding in and the temperature plunged. Dave checked out the weather forecast and after realising they’d got it totally wrong a few days ago, we decided to reluctantly go back to base. But we had to wait (hope) for the downpour to ease off a bit first because us “fair weather” boaters don’t do rain!

Meanwhile we were entertained by this military jet flying in low circles round an aerodrome a few miles away:

Then this lot arrived, we saw it in the distance, we hoped it would pass us by. But alas no, so we had a toasted teacake or 2 while we waited and waited for it to bugger off…

Which it did, the air suddenly warmed up and we found ourselves surrounded by an eerie mist with no wind at all, spooky…

This is the beginnings of where the canal turns into a river – that’s a 90 degree bend…

And this underwater tree is a real hazard when you’re lining up for the bridge on a weird angle…

Careful now…

Got me…

Through the eye of a needle? It’s so overgrown in places…

Some are more inquisitive than others…

“Silly cow” and that’s what SHE was thinking…

Another neatly pressed field, different crop, different place…

Back at the marina, the resident mum with 8 babies, (even if I have cut one of their heads off in this photo). They’re the only ones we’ve seen here this year…

After we touched base we sorted the place out and went round to the pub for a very nice meal. A pleasant end to what turned out to be a pleasant day despite the weather earlier…
