What´s missing from this picture?

Clever eh? A boat that drives itself…

Dave steps forward to get his cup o tea,
And says to Heth “just take over for me.”
He let go first & the tiller stayed straight,
So we both decided to watch & wait.
Must’ve been a very strange sight,
Me taking photos while Dave took flight.
And soon 30 seconds had flown,
With TT driving all on her own…
And for all the talk about boating skills of late,
How’s that for being top rate…?
Note: The bow thruster was in sleep mode…

Remember me saying we were just going out on the canal on Friday for one night? Well of course our plans usually go to pot. But this time they ACTUALLY worked in our favour! One night turned into three. Hence us coming back today. Even so, it was only because I’ve got to have a filling done tomorrow at the dentist, (ouch). Which means paying a fortune for cavity wall tooth insulation but never mind...

Oh and while I remember, before we set off on Friday we topped up the diesel tank with the new bio-fuel and I’m pleased to report no problems at all.

Now then, referring back to what’s visible and what’s not, the field beside where we moored up this weekend looked like it had suffered massive crop failure. I remember last year, not long before the ice set in, this particular field full of spuds was flooded. So we’re guessing the water just iced over and killed them off…

What it looks like now, abandoned. I could only fit half the field in this photo, even the hedge seems to have given up too…

Same field in June last year…

Sollom Fav Spot (431)

Same field in October last year, flooded and forlorn…

So it looks like Farmer Giles has just given up on it for now...

We also noticed hundreds of pigeons zooming about and eating the crops in the green, green, field beyond the spud disaster zone…

Not as daft as they look then...
