Boaty bloggers meet up by coincidence

Yesterday around lunchtime a boat moored up behind us, it came from the direction of the Leeds Liverpool. We didn’t know who they were and nobody seemed to be visible. So we carried about our own business (like you do). Dave was fishing behind TT, meantime I was sat a few feet away in the lux con tapping away on my laptop. We’d put some of the sides and the back up because it was STEAMING hot, but we still saw no-one on the mystery boat…

Later on a guy came past us walking his dog and said “Oh it’s Takey Tezey, I read your blog!” Turns out it was Geoff and the boat was:

nb Seyella…

They’d been watching the Grand Prix qualifying which explains why we hadn’t seen each other. But what a coincidence, none of us had seen the name of either boat till Geoff took Meg for a walk at about 5pm, and went past TT. We’d even been in touch about meeting up because we knew they were headed this way. But somehow I’d got the wrong date in my head for them crossing the Ribble Link which is typical. It’s strange how fate steps in anyway sometimes…

So later on we all sat out on the towpath, had a drink (or two) and discussed “watery tales by the canal bank” till it went dark…

They’ve booked the Ribble Link for Tuesday, so we wished them well for a great time over on the Lancy… The subject of the “quirky locks” on the Rufford canal was also a topic of conversation, Geoff even walked down to lock 5 to check it out. Verdict: “I think these locks must have every different kind of mechanism there is,” TRUE…

Geoff and Mags set off this morning before we’d dragged ourselves out of bed.
So come on all you boaty bloggers out there, this canal might be a bit quirky and it may have it’s faults. But it’s beautiful round here, a bit like me then - ha...
