All things bright and beautiful

Beautiful bulrushes…

There’s been a fair few different species of wildlife stopped by for a visit on the roof of this boat from time to time. But this is a first…

Spot the Red Admiral, numbers are in decline, even out here in the sticks it’s rare to see one. Wish I could’ve got a better angle, didn’t dare go outside…

White mummy duck with seven brown babes…

I’m rubbish at remembering plant names so I’ve no idea what this is. They’re not red berries on there, they’re pretty red flowers…

Looks beautiful, but the reeds on the left of the photo below shouldn’t be there. They’ve been encroaching for a while on this stretch of the canal. It leaves just enough room for one boat to go through now, whatever width, but there used to be enough room for two widebeams to pass each other here…

The invisible sign says: “WE HAVE NO FUNDS TO DREDGE THIS, PASSING ANOTHER BOAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. OH, AND YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO SEE ONE COMING ROUND THAT BEND EITHER.”

Yours sincerely BW...

Geese on the move, but without any co-ordination yet…

More mirror images…

Grand designs in an “S” shaped field, the farmers are very creative round here tha’ knows…

And this one has made his scarecrow redundant in favour of what look like shredded flags dotted about the place, hmm very inventive…

Silver birch glowing almost luminous in the fading sun…

Picture postcard run off by a lock…

And finally, not quite so pretty, this shiny boat gets a bow shiner in one of the locks, while Dave was up top helping me with the gates…

OOOPS…
