Like a fish out of water, a flying widebeam

After four years of fun and laughter:
Bye Bye mooring…
Wagon waiting before we got over to the hard standing – oops…
Then the darn crane arrives before we were ready and sorted…

Putting the jig-saw crane bits together – the balancing beams arrived on a separate wagon…!
Bloody hell, get it straight – at this point we were all shouting and screaming STOP STOP STOP…!

Front strap further forward please…
That’s better…
Right, go for it…

Tatty Bye till tomorrow…

I’d just like to thank all our friends and even family who turned up to watch in a bitter cold wind, with rain and sleet thrown in. It was a tearful goodbye as we set off for the hotel.
Meanwhile TT was setting off on her own journey for an overnight stay somewhere. [Apparently they can’t drive a lorry in the dark with a boat plonked on it, which makes sense]
But amidst the chaos we didn’t ask where was this unknown destination was, and the driver forgot to tell us. Hmm…

Remember my forecast for the weather forecast?

After being thoroughly reassured by several folks that it’s going to calm down next week, it is, with great regret, I have to announce the hurricane I predicted was right. I should’ve put a few bets on, could’ve covered the cost…

When we checked it out online today our jaws dropped in shock when we saw the wind speed for Monday will be TWENTY SEVEN mph, I said TWENTY SEVEN… Which means 30mph round here. Makes my stomach churn just thinking about it…

No more speculation required. 5th December ’s by far the worst of the 5 day forecast. I mean even 20 miles an hour last Saturday would’ve been a slight breeze in comparison…

On a personal note, it’s not like we go round looking for drama – it just seems to follow us around. Or even precede us of it’s own accord. As you probably know, it’s that word PLAN that sets the ball rolling downhill. In fact come to think of it a plan doesn’t even have to be in the making at all…

As I’ve said to the folks at Mercia Marina, “just watch for a boat going in with the crane toppling in on top of it – that’ll be the one.”

The final countdown

Four nights and three days to go,, each day is running into another. Makes me feel like I’m losing track, nah a glass of wine at the end of the day puts it all in perspective…!
Here’s a little ditty I composed earlier:
“Tying up loose ends is a chore, but each box ticked is a score.”
And today’s reminder of how fast time is moving on…
We’ve really enjoyed ourselves here, the marina is a beautiful place to be, and the fun times we´ve had with our dearest friends will be golden memories. Blimey, I’m talking myself out of it here, nope, too late now, it’s official…!
A new opportunity has arisen, and it’s time for us to move on. We’re not running away from anything – we’re walking towards something new.
It best be worth it, else living on a boat will lose it´s appeal for both of us…
